Water temperature…
The Caldea Area is the animated hub of thermal and wellness tourism in Escaldes-Engordany, home to the largest thermal spa center in Southern Europe. The striking building, featuring an 80-meter-high glass spire, was designed by French architect Jean-Michel Ruols and opened in 1994. Geographically, this district utilizes natural hot springs that emerge from the ground here at temperatures of up to 70 degrees Celsius. Caldea's architecture is inspired by the surrounding mountain peaks and has fundamentally modernized Andorra's urban silhouette. Since its opening, the surrounding neighborhood has developed into a high-end zone with luxury hotels, specialized clinics, and exclusive boutiques. Historically, the use of thermal waters was known as far back as Roman times, but it only became the cornerstone of the local economy in the 20th century. Modern pedestrian bridges in the immediate vicinity connect the center with the shopping districts of Andorra la Vella. The Caldea Area also serves as a venue for cultural events and light shows that highlight the iconic building at night. For visitors, the area has an excellent combination of relaxation, modern urbanity, and an alpine backdrop.
