Mimosa Platinum Mine (Zimbabwe)

Weather…

The Mimosa Platinum Mine is one of the most established and efficient mining operations in Zimbabwe, located within the Wedza Geological Complex at the southern end of the Great Dyke near Zvishavane. The mine is operated as a joint venture between Sibanye-Stillwater and Impala Platinum and specializes in the extraction of platinum, palladium, rhodium, and gold. Although mining at this site began as early as the 1920s, Mimosa experienced a massive renaissance from the late 1990s onward through the implementation of modern technologies and expansions. The mine is characterized by extremely low production costs and high ore grades, making it one of the most profitable operations in the Zimbabwean mining sector. Geologically, Mimosa benefits from the unique mineralization of the Great Dyke, allowing for stable and long-term production. The company is also a major player in local community development, supporting numerous health and education projects in the Midlands region.
