Mazowe Valley (Zimbabwe)

Weather…

The Mazowe Valley, which extends north of the capital Harare, is one of the most fertile and scenic regions in Zimbabwe. The gently rolling landscape is dominated by lush green fields, orchards, and dense forests irrigated by the Mazowe River. The valley is best known for its intensive cultivation of citrus fruits; the oranges from which the famous Mazowe orange juice, popular throughout the country, is made are grown here. In addition to agriculture, the valley also has deep historical and cultural significance. It was an important center during the Shona uprisings against British colonial rule in the late 19th century and is associated with the legendary spiritual leader Nehanda Nyakasikana. The easy on the eye Mazowe Dam, built in the 1920s, now gives excellent opportunities for water sports, fishing, and relaxing weekend getaways.
