💡 Tips
- Enjoy the quiet: Kalulushi is considerably more peaceful and less hectic than neighboring Kitwe.
- Get around by taxi: there are fewer minibuses here compared to larger Copperbelt cities, making local taxis the better choice.
- Learn the history: ask locals about the Chibuluma mine to understand the town's roots as a dedicated miners' settlement.
- Watch the weather: during the rainy season (November to April), side roads can become muddy and difficult to navigate.

Kalulushi is a town in the Copperbelt Province of northern Zambia, situated just west of the major city of Kitwe. The town was founded in 1953 as a planned settlement for workers at the nearby Chibuluma copper and cobalt mine and attained municipal status in 1958. Unlike many other industrial towns in the region, Kalulushi is noted for its relatively green surroundings and orderly planned layout. The economy is primarily driven by mining, supplemented by forestry and wood-processing industries based in the surrounding timber plantations. An ecological highlight located nearby is the Chembe Bird Sanctuary, which serves as an important refuge for both indigenous and migratory bird species. The town possesses stable infrastructure with educational and health facilities that serve both the urban residents and the rural population of the wider district. In recent decades, Kalulushi has evolved into a residential area for many commuters who work in the larger industrial centers across the Copperbelt.
