One World Trade Center
One World Trade Center, frequently referred to as the Freedom Tower, is the principal building of the rebuilt World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City. Designed by architect David Childs, the shimmering skyscraper officially opened in 2014, replacing the iconic Twin Towers that were tragically destroyed during the September 11 terrorist attacks. The structure reaches a highly symbolic absolute height of 1,776 feet, referencing the year of the American Declaration of Independence. Featuring an incredibly strong, blast-resistant concrete core and state-of-the-art life safety systems, it is arguably one of the most secure skyscrapers ever built. The reflective glass facade beautifully mirrors the surrounding sky and the adjacent 9/11 Memorial. Geography K8 — modern urban architecture and resilience.
