Gori Hills (Sierra Leone)

Weather…

The Gori Hills rise in southeastern Sierra Leone, near the border with Liberia, within the Kailahun District. This hilly area is protected as a forest reserve and covers an area of approximately 46 square kilometers. Geologically, the Gori Hills belong to the Guinea Highlands and are characterized by rugged terrain and dense secondary and primary forests. The region is of great ecological significance, as it forms a corridor for wildlife migration between the forested areas of Sierra Leone and Liberia. Numerous watercourses originate in these hills and flow towards the Moa River, ensuring the agricultural productivity of the surrounding villages. The relative isolation of the Gori Hills has helped preserve parts of the original ecosystem despite the pressures from shifting cultivation practices.
