Oltchim Chemical Plant (Romania)

Weather…

Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea was for decades the pride of the Romanian chemical industry and one of the largest specialized complexes in Central and Eastern Europe. Founded in 1966, it specialized in the production of caustic soda, polyols, and PVC, serving as a vital supplier for numerous industrial sectors. Its strategic location near salt mines and refineries allowed for a highly integrated production chain. Although the company faced significant financial challenges and entered bankruptcy, its core assets were acquired by Chimcomplex in 2018, ensuring the continuity of chemical production in the region. The site remains a symbol of Romania's industrial heritage and chemical expertise.
