Hiran Minar (Pakistan)

Weather…

Hiran Minar is a unique historical complex located in Sheikhupura that was built by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir in 1606. This site is particularly distinctive because it was constructed as a memorial for the emperor's favorite pet antelope named Mansraj. The complex consists of a circular minaret that stands approximately 30 meters high and features a spiral staircase with 108 steps leading to the top. At the center of a massive rectangular water tank, there is an octagonal two-story pavilion that served as a royal retreat for the Mughal court. A bridge connects this central pavilion to a gateway that aligns perfectly with the minaret on the shore. The site was originally part of a royal hunting reserve and demonstrates the Mughal appreciation for wildlife and landscape design. It has been recognized as a site of national heritage and is currently on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.
