Al Rustaq Fort (Oman)

Weather…

Al Rustaq Fort, also known as Qal'at al-Kisra, is one of the most imposing forts in Oman. Its foundations are believed to date from the Persian era, but the present structure was largely built in the 13th century and later massively expanded by the Ya'aruba dynasty in the 17th century. The fort consists of two main floors and has four massive towers: Burj Al-Reeh, Burj Al-Hadeeth, Burj Al-Shayateen, and Burj Al-Majeel. It served for a long time as the capital and administrative center of the Imamate of Oman. Inside, there is a mosque, a prison, and numerous rooms. The fort is strategically located to control the Batinah plain and the trade routes through the Hajar Mountains. Its thick walls and high towers made it an almost impregnable citadel.
