The Old Vicarage (Alter Pfarrhof) in Balzers is a historically significant building complex that now serves as the municipality's cultural center. The main building, known as 'Haus zum Gutenberg', was rebuilt after the devastating village fire of 1795 on the foundations of a previous structure. For over two centuries, it served as the residence for local priests and the administrative hub of the parish. Its architecture is a typical example of a rural manor house from the late Baroque period with Neoclassical influences. The complex also includes an impressive tithe barn, which recalls the era when farmers were required to pay taxes in the form of agricultural produce. Between 2009 and 2011, the entire complex underwent extensive renovation and was adapted for museum use and cultural events. Today, the Old Vicarage houses exhibitions on local history, art galleries, and spaces for concerts and lectures, making it a central pillar of social life in Balzers.
