The river can usually be accessed effortlessly from various historical sites and officially established baptismal parks spread along the entire Jordan Valley from the Sea of Galilee down to the Dead Sea.
Best season
Spring is generally the absolutely most beautiful time when the surrounding valley is wonderfully green, while winter visits typically offer much cooler, significantly more comfortable walking temperatures.
Terrain & paths
The riverbanks vary significantly from extremely well-developed, paved tourist terraces at the religious sites to completely natural, often muddy, and dense reed-lined dirt paths in the quieter sections.
What to bring
Light breathable clothing, wide-brimmed sun hats, and plenty of water are essential; additionally, highly modest and respectful dress is typically absolutely required if visiting the specific religious sites.
