Takoradi Port

Takoradi Port was established in 1928 as the first commercial deepwater port in the Gold Coast, playing a crucial role in the export of natural resources. Located in the Western Region of Ghana, about 230 kilometers west of Accra, it serves as the main exit point for the country’s manganese, bauxite, and a significant portion of its cocoa production. Since the discovery of commercial oil quantities in 2007, the port has been transformed into a primary logistics base for the offshore petroleum industry. It undergoes continuous modernization to accommodate larger vessels and increase its handling capacity for both bulk and containerized cargo.
