Weather…

The Battle of Tali-Ihantala, fought in the summer of 1944, was the largest military engagement in the history of the Nordic countries. It took place during the Continuation War on the Karelian Isthmus, as the Finnish Army sought to halt a massive offensive by Soviet forces. Between June 25 and July 9, 1944, the fighting intensified within a relatively small area, with both sides employing vast amounts of artillery and armored units. Thanks to a successful defensive strategy and support from German air units, Finland managed to preserve its independence and prevent a Soviet breakthrough into the heart of the country. Today, the battlefield serves as a major memorial site featuring numerous monuments and remnants of defensive fortifications. The battle is recognized as a decisive turning point that eventually led to the ceasefire in September 1944.
