The Middleveld Hills form the central heartland of Eswatini, situated between the high mountains of the west and the low plains of the east. This region is characterized by gently rolling hills and fertile river valleys, located at an average elevation of about 600 to 800 meters. Geologically, the area is diverse and provides convenient conditions for agriculture, making the Middleveld the most densely populated part of the country. The climate is subtropical and milder than in the Highveld, allowing for the cultivation of citrus fruits, sugarcane, and maize. The capital region around Mbabane and Manzini partially extends into this area. Historically, the Middleveld has been the center for the development of the country's modern infrastructure and economy. Much of the original savanna vegetation has been replaced by farmland, though indigenous acacia trees remain a common feature.
