Sukari Gold Mine (Egypt)

Weather…

The Sukari Gold Mine is situated in Egypt's Eastern Desert, approximately 30 kilometers southwest of the coastal town of Marsa Alam. It represents the country's first and only modern, large-scale industrial gold mining operation. The mine is managed by the Sukari Gold Mining Company, a joint venture between the Egyptian government and Centamin PLC. Since the first gold pour in 2009, Sukari has produced millions of ounces of gold, effectively re-establishing Egypt as a significant player on the global gold production map. The complex integrates a massive open-pit operation, underground mining sections, and a highly advanced processing plant. Reserves are estimated at over 12 million ounces, ensuring a long-term production horizon. Beyond its economic role as a major foreign currency earner, the mine is a critical employer in a remote desert region and upholds international standards for mining technology and occupational safety.
