Chébelé is a small village in the Arta Region of Djibouti, located near the town of We'a. It sits on a rocky plateau in the mountains overlooking the Ghoubbet-el-Kharab plain and the Gulf of Tadjoura. This elevated location provides slightly cooler temperatures than the capital, Djibouti City, although the region is still very arid. The settlement is accessible via a mountain road that connects it to the main RN1 route. The population is primarily composed of members of the Issa clan of the Somali people. The local economy relies on small-scale livestock farming, particularly goat herding, as well as limited trade with nearby towns. Chébelé has historical significance as the site where a meteorite fall was observed in 1997, which led to an expedition to recover fragments. The village has basic facilities such as a school, which is central to the education of local children. The surrounding landscape is rugged and rocky, offering panoramic views of the coastal plains below and the sea.
