Conception Bay South, frequently referred to as CBS, is situated on the southern shore of Conception Bay on Newfoundland's Avalon Peninsula. The town was officially established in 1973 through the amalgamation of nine historic communities, including Topsail, Seal Cove, and Upper Gullies. Its geographic position provides a slightly warmer microclimate compared to nearby St. John's, making it a popular residential and recreational choice. The area is geologically significant for the Manuels River Hibernia Interpretive Centre, which protects trilobite fossils dating back 500 million years. CBS is home to the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club and is home to some of the best sailing and boating facilities in Atlantic Canada. The port of Foxtrap serves as a key operational base for local fisheries and commercial marine activity. As one of the fastest-growing municipalities in the province, it maintains a unique blend of scenic coastal beauty and modern suburban development.
