Pal is one of the best-preserved historic villages in Andorra and an outstanding example of Pyrenean Romanesque architecture. Located in the parish of La Massana at an altitude of 1,551 meters, it is famous for the Church of Sant Climent de Pal, which dates back to the late 11th century and features an iconic three-story bell tower. The entire village is protected as a heritage site, with buildings constructed strictly from dark slate and granite, giving the settlement a cohesive, medieval appearance. Historically, Pal was an isolated farming village that only opened to tourism with the inauguration of the Pal-Arinsal ski resort in 1982. Geographically, the village sits at the entrance of a broad glacial valley that now serves as one of the country's premier recreation areas for skiers and mountain bikers. The integration of cultural heritage and modern sports infrastructure makes Pal a key destination for both cultural enthusiasts and active travelers. The Romanesque Art Interpretive Centre in the village provides deep insights into the religious and architectural history of the region.
