Jangalak Industrial Complex (Afghanistan)

Weather…

The Jangalak Industrial Complex in Kabul was once the symbol of Afghanistan's industrial ambitions. Founded in the 1950s and 60s with Soviet and German assistance, it was the country's largest industrial enterprise. The complex housed a variety of factories, ranging from metalworking and foundry to the manufacture of agricultural equipment, vehicle repairs, and furniture production. It also served as an important vocational training center where thousands of Afghans were trained as skilled workers. During the decades of conflict, the complex was severely damaged and looted, which almost completely destroyed its production capacity. After 2001, there were efforts to revive parts of the complex, but it never regained its former importance. Its ruins are a reminder of an era of industrial awakening and symbolize the lost potential of the Afghan economy due to the war.
