Abdul Rahman Mosque (Afghanistan)

Weather…

The Abdul Rahman Mosque, often referred to as the Grand Mosque of Kabul, is one of Afghanistan's most magnificent modern places of worship. Its construction began in the late 1990s but was interrupted by conflict and was only completed in 2012. Named after the influential businessman who funded the project, it stands as a symbol of reconstruction and hope. With its huge central dome, flanked by smaller domes and two tall minarets, it dominates the city center skyline. The interior has a capacity for about 10,000 worshippers and is richly decorated with calligraphy and ornaments. The mosque also houses a large library and a madrassa. It is not only a central place for religious life in Kabul but also an impressive example of modern Islamic architecture.
