Das Multimar Wattforum in Tönning ist das größte Informationszentrum für den Nationalpark Schleswig-Holsteinisches Wattenmeer und wurde im Jahr 1999 eröffnet. Die interaktive Erlebnisausstellung vermittelt auf über 3.000 Quadratmetern faszinierende Einblicke in das UNESCO-Weltnaturerbe Wattenmeer. Ein absolutes Highlight ist das 17,5 Meter lange Skelett eines Pottwals, der 1997 im Wattenmeer strandete und heute im 'Wahlhaus' eindrucksvoll präsentiert wird. In 37 Aquarien können Besucher mehr als 280 Tierarten beobachten, darunter Seepferdchen, Krebse und den imposanten Stör. Die Ausstellung ist so konzipiert, dass sie ökologische Zusammenhänge zwischen Ebbe, Flut und der Tierwelt anschaulich erklärt. Ein großes Panoramabecken mit 250.000 Litern Wasser bietet einen direkten Blick auf die Unterwasserwelt der Nordsee. Das Zentrum dient nicht nur als touristisches Highlight, sondern auch als wichtiger Bildungsstandort für Schulen und Umweltgruppen. Durch regelmäßige Sonderausstellungen und Veranstaltungen bleibt das Multimar Wattforum ein dynamischer Ort des Naturschutzes und der Forschung.
