- Keep in mind that Ilovik is entirely car-free; you will need to get everywhere on foot or by bicycle.
- Bring plenty of cash as there is no ATM on the island and many small establishments do not accept credit cards.
- Take the 10-minute taxi boat from Mrtvaška (southern tip of Lošinj) for the quickest access to the island.
- Look for the giant eucalyptus trees near the harbor, which were brought from Australia in the 19th century.
- If visiting in late June, join the Petrova festival on June 29th, the island's biggest celebration with bonfires and music.

Ilovik je najjužniji nastanjeni otok lošinjskog otočja, a svoj nadimak 'Otok cvijeća' duguje bujnoj vegetaciji, ljeti je selo prepuno oleandara, palmi, bugenvilija i ruža. Selo Ilovik jedino je naselje na otoku i potpuno je oslobođeno automobilskog prometa, što stvara jedinstvenu atmosferu tišine i svježeg morskog zraka. Otok obiluje skrivenim uvalama i plažama, od kojih je najpoznatija pješčana uvala Paržine. Odmah nasuprot nalazi se nenaseljeni otočić Sveti Petar, na kojem se vide ostaci benediktinske opatije i mletačke kule.
