- You can reach the park by an excursion boat directly into the bay, or by taking a ferry to Sali (on Dugi Otok island) and then exploring by scooter or bike.
- Visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the midday heat and the crowds from the tour boats.
- The salt lake 'Mir' is warmer and saltier than the sea, which makes for a unique swimming experience.
- The views from the top of the high 'Stene' cliffs are breathtaking, but be extremely careful near the edge as there are no safety fences.
- Bring cash for the entrance fee and for the simple restaurants (konobas), as card payment isn't always reliable.

Enjoy the catch of the day at one of the simple 'konobas' in Mir bay. The atmosphere is authentic, but expect island prices.
A platter of local 'pršut' (dry-cured ham) and cheese is a perfect snack. You can find it at the restaurants inside the park or in the villages on Dugi Otok.

Dugi Otok is famous for its olive oil. Buy a bottle directly from a local producer in villages like Sali or Žman for an authentic souvenir.
There is a small shop at the park's entrance that sells basic souvenirs related to the park's fauna and flora.
Most tourists congregate at the salt lake. The hiking paths leading up to the cliffs are much quieter and offer spectacular views of the open sea.
Walk around the lake, away from the main swimming area, to find a peaceful spot by the water surrounded by pine trees.
If you arrive by private boat, explore the park's coastline to find your own secluded bay for swimming and relaxing.
