- Plešivica is a wine road, not a town. You will need a car to explore the wineries scattered across the hills. Designate a driver!
- Many of the best wineries are small, family-run operations. It is essential to call and book your tasting in advance, especially on weekends.
- The best time to visit is late spring for lush green scenery or early autumn during the harvest season ('berba').
- For the best value and selection, buy wine directly from the cellars ('vinarija' or 'podrum'). Prices are much better than in city shops.
🍽 Gastro
This is the star of the region. Ask to taste the 'brut nature' from a local producer to experience the Croatian equivalent of Champagne.
A traditional savory pastry from the region. Look for it in local bakeries or ask for it at the wineries as a snack.
Many wineries will offer a platter ('plata') of local cured meats and cheeses to accompany your wine tasting. It's a perfect light lunch.

Drive along the wine road and stop at wineries with a 'Vinska Cesta' sign. Buying a case of sparkling or white wine directly from a producer is the ultimate souvenir.
A unique, local aromatic aperitif wine. A specialty of the Samobor area, very close to Plešivica, and many wineries here produce their own version.
Ask a winemaker if you can stroll through their vineyards. The rolling hills and quiet paths between the vines are incredibly peaceful.
The highest peak of the Samobor hills, accessible from Plešivica. There is an observation tower with a fantastic panoramic view.
The nearby town of 'Jaska' has a charming, quiet old town center, perfect for a relaxed stroll away from the wine-tasting crowds.
