The Beitbridge sugar cane plantations are located in the far south of Zimbabwe along the banks of the Limpopo River. What is this place?

The Beitbridge Sugar Cane plantations are extensive sugarcane fields in Zimbabwe's southern border area with South Africa. They are a significant part of Zimbabwean agriculture, supplying raw material for regional sugar production.

Visiting

The sugarcane fields are clearly visible from surrounding roads, but entering the plantations is usually not allowed. From the main road between Beitbridge and Masvingo, there is an excellent view of the fields.

Where to view it

The best viewpoint is the observation platform near the border bridge over the Limpopo River, from which the vast plantations can be seen. A high point on the road to Beitbridge also gives a good perspective.

The main products of the region are sugarcane and the raw sugar derived from it. On local markets in Beitbridge, travelers can buy freshly pressed sugarcane juice and traditionally produced brown sugar.
