Chilanga Cement (Zambia)

Weather…

Chilanga Cement is Zambia's most established cement manufacturer and has served as a symbol of the nation's industrial development since the mid-20th century. Established in 1949, the company commenced production in 1951 at its inaugural plant in Chilanga, located south of Lusaka. Originally founded to provide the cement required for the construction of the Kariba Dam, the firm later expanded with a second major facility in Ndola on the Copperbelt. For several decades, Chilanga Cement operated as a state-owned enterprise before its privatization in the 1990s, when it joined the international Lafarge and later Holcim groups. In 2021, the company was acquired by the Huaxin Cement Group, initiating a new chapter in its corporate history. With its iconic 'Mosi-oa-Tunya' brand, Chilanga Cement maintains its position as the market leader in Zambia, supplying vital infrastructure and mining projects. The plants in Chilanga and Ndola are noted for their adherence to high environmental and quality standards.
