Monterey Bay Aquarium (United States)

Weather…

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a spectacularly innovative, world-renowned public aquarium located on the site of a former sardine cannery on historic Cannery Row in Monterey, California. Opening in 1984, the facility revolutionized the aquarium industry by focusing almost entirely on the distinct, incredibly rich marine ecosystems immediately outside its windows in the massive Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. It was the absolute first aquarium in the world to successfully grow a living giant kelp forest in a massive 28-foot-tall tank, utilizing raw seawater pumped directly from the bay. The institution is also globally recognized for its profound conservation efforts, particularly its successful rehabilitation of adorable but critically endangered southern sea otters.
