Kenting National Park

Kenting National Park, established on January 1, 1984, is Taiwan's oldest national park and occupies the southernmost tip of the island in Pingtung County. Spanning over 33,000 hectares of land and sea, it is celebrated for its tropical climate, diverse ecosystems, and pristine coral reefs. The park's most famous landmark is the Eluanbi Lighthouse, built in 1883, which is one of the few fortified lighthouses in the world and serves as a symbol of the 'East Asian Light.' Kenting features dramatic geological formations such as Chuanfan Rock (Sail Rock) and Maobitou, which has panoramic views of the Bashi Channel. The area is a biodiversity hotspot, home to over 300 bird species and significant seasonal migrations of raptors. Beyond its natural wonders, the park is a major tourist destination known for surfing, scuba diving, and the bustling Kenting Street Night Market. Balancing ecological preservation with the demands of millions of annual visitors remains a primary challenge for the park's administration.
