Its most famous landmark is the Great Buddha Statue on Bagua Mountain, a 26-meter-tall figure that overlooks the city and serves as a major spiritual destination. With a population of approximately 230,000, the city features a rich cultural heritage, including the Changhua Confucius Temple, which was established in 1726 and is noted for its well-preserved architecture. A unique industrial site is the Fan-shaped Train Depot, built in 1922 during the Japanese colonial era; it remains the only operational locomotive depot of its kind in Taiwan. Changhua also serves as the economic center for a fertile agricultural plain known for its extensive flower nurseries and fruit production.
