Sveg Heights
Sveg Heights represent the elevated terrain around the town of Sveg in the province of Härjedalen, known for its extensive forests and rugged wilderness. The relief is characterized by rounded hills and ridges formed by tectonic activity and subsequently eroded by glacial movements during the Pleistocene. The area is part of the Scandinavian Mountains' eastern foothills, where elevations typically range between 400 and 600 meters above sea level. This topography has historically supported a robust timber industry, with many of the heights being used for commercial forestry today. The Ljusnan river flows through the valleys below, creating a dramatic contrast between the high ground and the water-cut basins. The heights offer a sanctuary for large mammals like bears and moose, and are crisscrossed by trails used for both hiking and snowmobiling.
