Alhambra (Spain)

Weather…

The Alhambra is a vast fortress and palace complex located on the Sabika hill in Granada, Andalusia, which served as the residence of the Nasrid dynasty rulers. Construction began in 1238 under Muhammad I Ibn al-Ahmar and reached its artistic peak in the 14th century with the addition of the Court of the Lions and the Myrtles. The complex covers approximately 142,000 square meters and is enclosed by a 1,730-meter-long defensive wall featuring 30 towers. Following the Christian conquest in 1492, the Catholic Monarchs used it as a royal residence, and later Charles V added a massive Renaissance palace within the grounds. The architecture is renowned for its intricate stucco work, 'muqarnas' vaulting, and sophisticated water engineering in the Generalife gardens. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1984, it is one of Spain's most iconic monuments, attracting over 2.5 million visitors each year.
