Yangsan is a rapidly growing city in Gyeongsangnam-do province, located within the metropolitan sphere of Busan. Despite its modern industrial expansion, the city preserves one of Korea's most significant spiritual centers: Tongdosa Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This temple is unique as it contains no Buddha statues in its main hall, instead housing authentic relics of the historical Buddha. Geographically, Yangsan is characterized by the Yangsan-cheon River and Cheonseongsan Mountain, providing ample opportunities for recreation and hiking. Over recent decades, Yangsan has experienced massive population growth driven by the development of new residential districts and industrial parks. The city now serves as a major educational hub with several university campuses and acts as a vital link between the economic powerhouses of the southeast.
