Villa Somalia (Somalia)

Weather…

Villa Somalia is the official residential and workplace of the President of Somalia, located in the capital city of Mogadishu. Originally constructed in the 1930s by the Italian colonial authorities, the complex was known as Villa del Governatore and reflects a prominent Art Deco architectural style. Following Somalia's independence in 1960, it became the seat of the national government and has remained a symbol of state sovereignty through various political eras. The palace is situated on high ground overlooking the city and the Indian Ocean, providing a strategic vantage point for the administration. During the civil war, the complex suffered significant damage but has been extensively renovated to house the modern federal government offices. It remains one of the most heavily fortified sites in the country, protected by multi-layered security cordons. Today, it serves as both a functional administrative hub and a historic landmark representing the continuity of the Somali state.
