Talara Refinery (Peru)

Weather…

The Talara Refinery, located in the Piura region, is one of Peru's most historic yet modern industrial centers. Originally built in the early 20th century, the facility underwent a comprehensive modernization in recent years, which was completed in 2023. Operated by Petroperú, the project involved investments exceeding 5 billion USD. The new refinery is capable of producing fuels with very low sulfur content, reducing environmental impact and improving air quality nationwide. With a processing capacity of 95,000 barrels of crude oil per day, Talara plays a central role in Peru's energy security. The facility processes both Peruvian crude oil from the Amazon basin and imported raw materials to meet national demand for gasoline, diesel, and liquefied petroleum gas.
