Cerro Corá National Park (Paraguay)

Weather…

Cerro Corá National Park is located in the Amambay Department of northeastern Paraguay and is a site of immense ecological and historical value. Spanning approximately 5,500 hectares, the park is characterized by its unique flat-topped hills and its position in a transition zone between the Cerrado savanna and the Atlantic Forest. It is historically significant as the site of the final battle of the Triple Alliance War on March 1, 1870, where Marshal Francisco Solano López died. The park features numerous monuments commemorating this event, as well as ancient rock paintings created by indigenous peoples up to 5,000 years ago. The flora and fauna are highly diverse, hosting rare species such as the giant anteater and various birds of prey. Visitors can explore trekking trails that lead to viewpoints overlooking the vast Paraguayan landscape. Today, Cerro Corá is considered a sacred ground for national identity and serves as a crucial refuge for nature conservation in an area heavily influenced by agriculture.
