Qurum Natural Park is the largest public green space in Muscat, spanning an area of approximately 1.7 million square meters in the Shatti Al-Qurum district. Officially opened in 1993, the park is strategically located between the Arabian Sea and the adjacent mangrove forests, which form a significant ecological reserve. The landscape design integrates expansive lawns with man-made waterways and a central lake that serves as a sanctuary for numerous migratory bird species. Getting there
The park is centrally located in the bustling Qurum district of Muscat and is incredibly easy to access by private car, taxi, or via the local road network; the main entrances are excellently signposted and sit directly along major urban traffic arteries.
Best season
The most convenient months for an outdoor visit are undoubtedly from October to April, when the climate in Oman is significantly cooler and far more bearable, readily allowing for relaxed lakeside strolls and picnics on the green lawns without intense heat.
Terrain & paths
The terrain of this massive urban park is exceptionally flat, fully paved, and equipped with wide, smooth walkways that can easily be navigated with strollers or wheelchairs, completely surrounded by expansive, soft grassy lawns and manicured gardens.
What to bring
Everyday, comfortable casual clothing and light walking shoes are perfectly sufficient; on particularly sunny days, a sun hat and sunscreen are highly advised, and if planning a traditional picnic, bringing a blanket is recommended for a cozy afternoon.

Around the main entrances of the park, there are generally very large, well-organized, and mostly free parking areas available that provide ample space for the numerous local visitors and their families, even on heavily visited weekends and major holidays.
Safety
The park is subject to normal large-city safety conditions and is widely considered very safe; however, parents should take immense care to supervise young children closely at all times, especially when playing near the large artificial boating lake.

An average visit typically spans anywhere from one to three hours, which is practically handy for a short relaxing stroll, an extended early morning run, or a much longer, leisurely family picnic located right in the vast, green beating heart of the city.
