Pyongyang TV Tower (North Korea)

Weather…

The Pyongyang TV Tower is a prominent landmark located in the Moranbong district of the North Korean capital. Completed in 1967, the tower was officially commissioned in April 1970 to coincide with the 5th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea. Standing at 150 meters tall, it was one of the tallest structures in the city at the time of its completion. Its design bears a resemblance to the Ostankino Tower in Moscow, featuring a distinctive circular observation deck at a height of 94 meters. Besides its primary function as a broadcasting facility for state television (KCTV) and radio, the tower houses a restaurant and an observation floor for visitors. The tower is situated within a large park area that is popular for local recreation. Technically, it facilitates the transmission of national programming across the Pyongyang region. Despite the emergence of newer skyscrapers, the TV tower remains a significant symbol of 1960s North Korean architectural and engineering development.
