Historically, the hill served as a pivotal administrative base for the British colonial government, housing the office and residence of Lord Frederick Lugard. It is widely documented that Flora Shaw, a British journalist and later Lugard's wife, suggested the name 'Nigeria' from this vantage point in 1897. The plateau atop the hill contains historical artifacts, including Lugard's original rest house and telecommunications installations dating back to the colonial era. Today, Mount Patti is a major tourist attraction, frequented by hikers and history enthusiasts.
