Tan-Tan is a strategically significant city in southwestern Morocco, serving as a gateway to the Sahara and a vital link between the north and the southern provinces. The city is world-famous for the 'Moussem of Tan-Tan', an annual gathering of over thirty nomadic tribes from across the Sahara region, recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Geographically, Tan-Tan is located in the Draâ River basin, near the Atlantic coast where the port of Tan-Tan Plage (El Ouatia) is situated. This port is one of Morocco's most important fishing centers and plays a crucial role in the regional economy.
