Millennium Bridge (Montenegro)

Weather…

The Millennium Bridge is the most iconic architectural landmark in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, spanning the Morača River. It was officially opened on July 13, 2005, coinciding with Montenegro's National Day, to symbolize the country's transition into the new millennium. Designed by Mladen Ulićević, a professor at the University of Montenegro, the cable-stayed bridge features a striking modern aesthetic. It measures 173 meters in length and is dominated by a 57-meter-high pylon, which supports the road deck through 12 pairs of heavy steel cables. The construction of the bridge, costing approximately 7 million euros, significantly improved traffic flow between the city center and the newer residential districts to the west. At night, the bridge is illuminated by a sophisticated LED lighting system, enhancing its visual impact on the city's skyline. As a masterpiece of contemporary engineering, it has become a popular gathering spot and a frequent subject for photographers and tourists visiting the capital.
