Khammouane Potash Mine

The potash mine in Khammouane Province is one of the most significant mining projects in Laos, playing a central role in the global fertilizer market. The region possesses one of the world's largest deposits of carnallite and sylvinite, which has led to the establishment of several international mining companies, particularly from China, such as Sino-Agri Potash. Extraction takes place in modern underground mines equipped with advanced technology to maximize efficiency and minimize environmental impact. The extracted potash is processed locally into potassium chloride and exported via rail networks and Vietnamese ports to China and Southeast Asia.
