Prizren, often referred to as the historic and cultural capital of Kosovo, is picturesquely situated at the foot of the Sharr Mountains along the banks of the Lumbardhi River. The city features a history spanning millennia, shaped by Roman, Byzantine, and most notably Ottoman influences. Its cityscape is dominated by the majestic Sinan Pasha Mosque dating from 1615, the iconic Ottoman Stone Bridge, and the Our Lady of Ljeviš Church, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In 1878, Prizren became the epicenter of the Albanian national awakening through the formation of the League of Prizren, whose historic meeting house now serves as a significant museum. The city is famous for its spirited atmosphere, traditional silver filigree craftsmanship, and rich culinary heritage. Each year, it hosts Dokufest, one of the Balkan region's most prestigious international documentary and short film festivals, attracting global audiences. The harmonious coexistence of various religions and ethnicities is beautifully reflected in the architecture and the numerous sacred sites found throughout the old town.
