Amer Fort (India)

Weather…

Amer Fort, also known as Amber Fort, is situated on a scenic hill about 11 kilometers from Jaipur and stands as one of Rajasthan's most magnificent fortifications. Construction was initiated in 1592 by Raja Man Singh I on the remains of an earlier structure and continued for over 150 years under his successors. The architecture is a masterful fusion of traditional Hindu Rajput styles and Mughal artistic influences, constructed predominantly from red sandstone and white marble. Notable features inside include the Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace), where walls are embellished with thousands of tiny glass mirrors, and the memorable Ganesh Pol gateway. The fort overlooks Maota Lake, which historically served as its primary water reservoir. Since 2013, Amer Fort has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site as part of the Hill Forts of Rajasthan, and it remains famous for the elephant rides that transport tourists to its main entrance.
