Vizag Steel Plant

The Vizag Steel Plant, officially known as the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), is India's first shore-based integrated steel plant and a major industrial landmark in Andhra Pradesh. Operated by Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the plant was formally commissioned in 1992. Its strategic coastal location provides a significant advantage for the direct import of coking coal and the cost-effective export of finished steel products through the Visakhapatnam Port. The facility is internationally recognized for its high-quality long steel products, which are essential for large-scale infrastructure projects, bridges, and defense applications. Vizag Steel was a pioneer in India for adopting advanced environment-friendly technologies, such as Coke Dry Quenching (CDQ), which enhances energy recovery.
