Jászapáti is a town steeped in tradition, located in the Jászság region within Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County. Its history is defined by the Jasz (Iazyges) people who settled here in the 13th century, maintaining their own legal status and autonomy for centuries. The town's central landmark is the Roman Catholic Church, a majestic building featuring interior frescoes by the renowned painters Pál Vágó and Árpád Feszty. Pál Vágó, a master of Hungarian historical painting, was born here, and his former residence now functions as a memorial museum showcasing his life's work and regional artifacts. Another significant draw is the Tölgyes Thermal Bath and Spa, which has been in operation since 1963. The alkaline-hydrogen carbonate waters are highly valued for their therapeutic properties, especially for treating locomotor diseases. Jászapáti also plays a key role in the annual World Gathering of Jasz People, a cultural festival that celebrates the heritage and survival of the Jasz community.
