Kakum Canopy Walkway (Ghana)

Weather…

The Kakum Canopy Walkway is located within the Kakum National Park in the Central Region of Ghana and was officially opened to the public in 1995. The facility consists of seven suspension bridges spanning a total length of 330 meters, anchored to massive trees. At heights of up to 40 meters above the forest floor, the path has a unique perspective on the tropical rainforest canopy. It was designed by Canadian engineers to promote ecotourism while supporting forest conservation. The structure is designed to be anchored directly into the trees without nails or bolts, ensuring their growth is not hindered. The walkway attracts tens of thousands of visitors annually and is considered one of the most significant tourist attractions in West Africa. In addition to tourism, it serves as a platform for scientific studies on rainforest flora and fauna.
