The Fajara Cliffs extend along the Atlantic coast in the Fajara district, north of Kotu, representing one of the few prominent elevations on The Gambia's otherwise flat coastline. These cliffs are composed of reddish laterite rock and reach heights of up to 15 meters above beach level. Due to the constant impact of the surf, they are subject to heavy erosion, resulting in interesting geological formations and small caves.
