Neufchâteau is a history-steeped town in the Vosges department of the Grand Est region. Strategically located at the confluence of the Meuse and Mouzon rivers, the town was for centuries an important frontier post of the Duchy of Lorraine. The old town of Neufchâteau is classified as a protected area and houses an impressive number of buildings from the Renaissance and Classical periods. Particularly noteworthy are the 16th-century town hall and the churches of Saint-Christophe and Saint-Nicolas, which blend various architectural styles. The town was once a major center for the wool trade and furniture manufacturing, which established its prosperity in the 18th century. Today, Neufchâteau is an important administrative seat and a cultural hub in the western part of the Vosges, attracting visitors with its authentic French flair and well-preserved medieval urban structure.
