Best season
Paralimni Lake is a seasonal water body - the best time for birdwatching is from November to April, when water is present and migratory birds stop over. In summer the lake is usually dry, with only few species present.
Best time of day
Early morning hours (6-9 AM) are best as birds forage intensively and are often seen along the shore. Dusk hours (4-6 PM) are also good, when birds return to their roosting sites.
Etiquette
Stay on existing paths and do not enter the shoreline zone to protect vegetation and nesting birds. Dogs are not allowed in the wetland area as they may disturb the birdlife.
What to bring
Binoculars with at least 8x magnification are essential for identifying birds on the lake. Waterproof shoes or rubber boots are recommended as the ground around the lake is often wet and muddy.
Getting there
Paralimni Lake is on the southern edge of Paralimni town, near the road to Agia Napa. A short dirt track from the main road leads to an informal parking area. The lake is also easily reachable on foot from Paralimni center (about 1.5 km).

As it is a seasonal wetland, bird numbers can vary greatly - visit the lake multiple times to see different species. Sit quietly at a viewing point and wait for birds to emerge from hiding.
