Best season
The best time to observe wildlife in the Pafos Forest is spring (March-May), when vegetation is green and animals become more active after winter. Autumn (September-November) also has good sightings with mild temperatures.
Best time of day
Mouflon and foxes are most active in the early morning hours (5-8 AM) when they forage. At dusk (5-8 PM) they can also be frequently seen in clearings or forest edges.
Etiquette
Always stay on marked hiking trails and do not leave them - entering the undergrowth disturbs wildlife and can cause fires. Do not feed wild animals, as it alters their natural behavior and makes them dependent.
What to bring
Sturdy footwear and long trousers are recommended as the terrain can be rocky and dotted with thorny bushes. Binoculars help observe shy animals like the mouflon from a safe distance without disturbing them.
Getting there
Pafos Forest stretches east of Paphos city - main access points are the roads to Panagia and Stavros tis Psokas. A 4x4 vehicle is advantageous on unpaved forest roads, but many places can be reached with a normal car if driven carefully.
